The Denver Broncos entered the AFL football league in 1959, but gained popularity and fanfare with the NFL football merger in 1970. In the early years, Bob Howsam served as owner and was given the difficult task of making the Broncos respected. Before 1970, Denver Broncos players were given used uniforms and played on un-kept and abandoned fields. Eventually The Denver Broncos moved to Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium, but they suffered through the early years. In 1970 the Denver Broncos gained respect and began their record breaking attendance streaks. The Broncos have sold out every game since 1970 and reserved lists of thousands of waiting fans. The Denver Broncos’ success only added to the passion and loyalty of the fans.

Denver Broncos’ fans got to experience their first winning season in 1973. Coach John Ralston led the team to their first successful season and paved the way for future victories. For the next twenty years the Denver Broncos were regularly in the playoffs and in championship contention.  Between 1977 and 1991, the Denver Broncos were regularly present for the AFC championship game. In fact they won their conference four times during this time period. The amount of success they achieved was remarkable given their starting point and the obstacles they had to overcome.

The successes only continued as the Denver Broncos captured their first championship in Super Bowl XXXII. With a win over the Green Bay Packers, the Denver Broncos captured their dreams and delighted their fans. The very next year, the Denver Broncos made their way into the record books when they won their second straight Super Bowl. The city of Denver was overwhelmed with joy as John Elway led the Broncos to glory.

John Elway is one of the most beloved player in Denver Broncos’ history and NFL football history. He is one of the all time passing leaders in many categories and cemented his legacy with two championships. He retired after his two Super Bowl victories and ended his career on a high note. Elway remains involved with the team as general manger and still has the support and devotion of Denver.

John Elway was instrumental in acquiring Peyton Manning from the Indianapolis Colts. Without his leadership and presence, Manning would have chosen another team. With Peyton Manning as quarterback,  and other upgrades around him, the Broncos are ready for a breakout 2012 season. There are high expectations and most of the NFL football world is excited to see Manning back on the field, after an almost two year absence.  No one is sure how the Broncos will perform, but it is certain that many Denver Broncos fans will be in attendance to see him play.

The presence of Manning only adds to the excitement for the football season. The Denver Broncos have been looking for a replacement for Elway for many years. In Manning, the Denver Broncos finally have a player of Elway’s caliber and skill set.  The excitement in Denver will be noticeable throughout the entire NFL football season.
